This week, we talked about recursion, got started on trees, talked about the midterm, and handed our first assignment in. Pretty eventful I must say!
We finished off recursion by writing a function for solving the Towers of Hanoi which made me realize how much more comfortable I am with recursive functions compared to the start of class - they no longer seem like a magic black box - although they're still pretty cool to think about.
Something that I learned this week was the concept of a tree as well as the ways to traverse the tree, but I'm sure I'll get used to it with more practice and I'm looking forward to learning about some of its applications.
Overall, with the assignment due in the middle of this week and the midterm coming up next week, there wasn't much time to cover new material. However, it's been a good time to go back and look over the course material up to now to prepare for the midterm. With some solid practice writing recursive functions from the lab on Friday I feel pretty confident about the content we've covered so far, with the exception of the different kinds of traversal through a tree (I'm still working on it!). I'm also looking forward to seeing what assignment 2 will be like, which is coming up in a couple of weeks.
